It's that time of year again when the traditional Fuksi Parade is just around the corner. In this festive event on 1st of May, we get to witness the Tampere teekkarifuksis make their final journey — with their magnificent härwelis — toward becoming full-fledged teekkaris. This year, the parade route differs from the past few years. The parade will begin at the traditional Amurinpuisto and proceed along Puutarhakatu. From there, it will turn onto Hämeenpuisto, and continue via Hämeenkatu and Hatanpään valtatie to Suvantokatu, ending at Ratinan rantatie. The parade concludes in Ratinanniemi Park, where the fuksis will then queue up for the Teekkari Dipping. 

Once again, an incredible spectacle awaits — this time right in the heart of Tampere. So, all wappu enthusiasts come along to cheer on the engineering fuksis and, of course, to admire their stunning härwelis. This is an unforgettable tradition you definitely don't want to miss! 

This year, the parade will start at 12:10 PM due to the extended route. The fuksis are expected to arrive at Ratinanniemi Park around 1:00 PM, at which point the Teekkari Dipping will begin right away. You'll still have time to admire the härwelis in the park before they are relocated around 3:00 PM.

Teekkari Dipping

Once again, a year worth of water has passed through the Tammerkoski rapids, and it’s time to dip a new generation of fuksis in the stream. This year, due to structural assessments of the riverbank at Koskipuisto, the Teekkari dipping will exceptionally take place in Ratinanniemi park. However, this won’t dampen the spirit— the dipping remains a spectacular and lively highlight, the crown jewel of Wappu celebrations.

Throughout the day, fresh teekkaris will rise from the waters in baskets—rejuvenated and ready for new challenges, having shed the last remnants of their fuksi year in the rapids. The baptism is the grand finale of the Tampere's teekkari Wappu, so let’s gather to cheer on the ones being dipped!

A comprehensive livestream will also be available, allowing those farther away to join in the atmosphere.

The baptism will begin as soon as the fuksi parade has settled by the river, around 1 PM. The fuksis will be dipped in the rapids of Tammerkoski by guild, with the last baskets expected to emerge from the water by 6 PM at the latest.
