Hello, I am Janna and this year I am Minister of Finance of Tampereen Teekkarit ry. As minister of finance, I am responsible for the association’s financial tasks such as cash flow and accounting. On a weekly basis, tasks include retrieving mail from the association’s mailbox, paying bills, attending board meetings, and other day-to-day financial tasks. This week, for example, I will open the sign up for international sitsis in the our Holvi online store and compile a list of participants from Holvi’s information.
At the monthly level, the tasks include accounting, financial monitoring of various budgets together with the rest of the government, payment of the sauna master’s salary and, for example, invoicing for business cooperation. The duties of a chief financial officer are thus very similar to those of a guild or club treasurer, but on a larger scale. However, the minister of finance does not have to perform all the tasks alone, other members of the board and Finance Committee assist minister of finance with financial consulting and budget controlling. With the help of the Finance Committee, a medium-term financial plan is being prepared for the association, which aims to consolidate the association’s finances.
Not all of the tasks I have done this year are related to the economy. Variation in financial tasks can be found in the action plan projects. This year, I have been involved in a project that promotes the inclusion of student culture together with TEK, TREY and Inclusive. During the project, I have been able to participate in various workshops related to equality and inclusion.
